About Us

RPH Australia is the national peak body for the Radio Reading Network, community radio services dedicated to informing and empowering the estimated 5 million Australians with a print disability.

We advocate for and strengthen our sector, supporting development and innovation through collaboration, and access to resources and new technologies.

We raise our public profile, increasing awareness and understanding of Radio Reading services as essential, transformative community media.

We work to extend the diversity and national reach of Radio Reading programming, to empower all Australians with a print disability.

We champion the rights of all people to access printed material, enabling equal participation in cultural, political and social life.

About the Radio Reading Network

Australians with a print disability have the same right and need for ready access to daily print media as other Australians. Access to in-depth analysis of issues in the print media often underpins informed opinions and decisions, facilitating full participation in the cultural, economic, political and social life of Australia.

Broadcasting to 70% of the Australian population, the Radio Reading Network provides this access by combining the depth of print media information with the immediacy and ubiquity of radio.

Created in 1978, RPH radio services are part of the not for profit community broadcasting sector.

The RPH Network consists of 18 AM/FM radio services around Australia, as well as digital radio services in Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide (IRIS). The RPH Network operates with the assistance of 1,500 dedicated volunteers.

RPH Australia is also working to extend the national reach of Radio Reading services to empower Australians with a print disability living in regional, rural and remote areas.

Our Regional Development project is supporting community radio stations, outside the current Radio Reading Network, to produce new, diverse, quality local programming made by and for people with a print disability in their community.

Our Vision

A nation where a print disability is not a barrier to participation.
